Cylinder honing and its types
Polishing (honing) of the inner surface of the cylinder is the main method of honing operation, which is done to correct dimensional defects (such as conical, barrel, non-circular) and create the desired surface. The honing tool has several tall stones that are pressed into the cylinder walls with the help of a new automatic loading system. The tool has the same rotational motion inside the cylinder (rock speed of about 45 to 90 meters per minute in the Easy Sanat refining machine, which allows you to adjust the speed) and a line in the direction of the cylinder. The honing tool is aligned with the cylinder axis; Unlike grinding, in which the tool shaft is determined by the grinding machine. This feature eliminates the need to adjust and align parts and tools, and does not cause defects due to improper operation, thus eliminating the need for a precise fixture. For this reason, the position of the hole can not be changed with honing. If the piece is small, the piece is held manually and freely, and by inserting the honing tool, the alignment is created by pressing the tool into the wall of the piece automatically. If the piece is heavy, the piece is fixed and the honing tool, which freely aligns with the direction of the piece with the help of two universal joints. The diameter of the cylinder can be between 2 and 1500 mm and there is no limit to the length of the part.
Simultaneous reciprocating and rotating motion of the tool creates a surface with diagonal lines (crosshatch pattern). The angle between these diagonal lines is determined by the rotational speed and the linear velocity of the tool, which, considering the optimal state of these values, this angle will be 45 degrees. . This feature, along with the oblique grooves, improves the oil flow inside the cylinders, especially at the start of the engine (when the oil pressure is still low) and increases the life and reduces erosion inside the cylinder. Until the dimensions of the hole are reached to the final size and then honing is done with a very small amount of aggregate to eliminate the peaks of the surface
